Shantz Group at Texas A&M

Welcome to the Shantz lab

The Shantz lab is involved in materials development, with particular emphasis in the field of energy. Our laboratory couples controlled synthetic chemistry with robust analytical characterization and material testing to enable rational material design.  This allows us to bring the fundamental knowledge gained via synthesis and characterization to bear, in a meaningful way, on societally relevant problems. Current work in our lab includes:

  1. 1.Investigating the growth of nanoporous materials in solution.

  2. 2.Nanocomposite membranes for a variety of separations.

  3. 3.Investigating the catalytic properties of well-defined organic layers on porous oxide substrates.
