Ourresearch group focuses on the development of novel methodologies to design, synthesize, modify, deposit, and microfabricate nanoporous materials and to build them into hierarchical structures and complex forms for wide ranges of applications including bio/gas separations, membrane reactors, selective catalysts, and adsorbents. Specifically, we are developing new methods for the synthesis of materials such as microwave heating and microfluidic environment. We are also fabricating thin films and membranes of porous materials such as zeolites, metal organic frameworks (MOF), and zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) for high resolution gas separations. Finally fundamental understanding on the interactions between porous oxide surface and polymer is under investigation for rational design of organic-inorganic hybrid films and membranes.
