The focus of my research group is on Molecular Systems Biotechnology (MSB). Work in the lab is divided into three thrust areas: (1) Systems biology of cytokine signaling in Inflammation and obesity, (2) Inter-kingdom signaling interactions between commensal bacteria, pathogens and host cells in GI tract infections, and (3) Microfluidic models for drug screening and vascular tissue engineering. Our work in these areas is funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, and American Heart Association.
