COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Aug. 25, 2008 – Early registration has been extended for “Fundamentals of Process Safety Management,” a course administered by the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center in the Artie McFerrin Department of Chemical Engineering at Texas A&M University.
The two-day course, which is scheduled for Sept. 9-10 at SIS-TECH Solutions, Inc. in Houston, is designed to orient the student in the concepts of and reasons for process safety management and to teach basic process safety management fundamentals.
Course content covers the 14 elements of process safety, various examples and relevant case histories, along with personal experiences. In addition, Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Agency process safety regulatory requirements are addressed in detail.
The course is designed to provide attendees with an understanding of the scope, necessary requirements and implementation issues in order to develop, implement and maintain an effective process safety program that meets regulatory requirements.
Exercises and workshops are used throughout the sessions, enabling students to practice use of the tools and training provided.

Established in 1995, the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Center is dedicated to enhancing safety in the chemical process industry. The center conducts various educational endeavors aimed at “making safety second nature” to everyone in the industry.
